Oral sex is one of the common sexual act also brings in fear of contraction of STD /STI. As the oral sex involves, the act of sexual intimacy from mouth-to-penis (fellatio), mouth-to-vagina (cunnilingus), or mouth–to–anus. There is a possibility of transmission of Sexual transmitting Infection (STI) caused by the bacteria that dwell in the warm, moist and soft place. They can spread from penis, vagina, anus to mouth and the other way around.

 

What are the chances of getting the STDs from  Oral Sex?

That depends on various factors like

  • the type of STD
  • number of sexual act
  • kind of sexual practice
  • A commonality of STD in the population to which the sex partner belongs

 

STIs that are commonly caught through oral sex are:

  • Chlamydia
  • gonorrhoea
  • genital herpes
  • syphilis
